About Nook Lane Junior School

Nook Lane Junior School is a community, co-educational school catering for children in the 7+ to 10+ range incorporating a 12 place Integrated Resource, for children with Language/ Autistic Spectrum/ Communication Difficulties.

It was built in 1971 with extensions completed in 1979; a double mobile classroom was built on site to cater for increased numbers in 1993. During 2004 the school has been extended again, by the LEA, to provide the Integrated Resource with more appropriate facilities. The site is extremely attractive, overlooking the Loxley Valley and offering excellent outdoor facilities for sports and leisure.

We have close links with Stannington Infant School, our linked feeder school. The Y2s and Y5s work closely together on various projects each year. During the summer term there is close liaison to ensure continuity and awareness of the needs of individual children. Admission procedures are outlined in the school prospectus.

The majority of our children generally go to Bradfield School at the end of Y6. There are opportunities in the summer term for pupils to take part in familiarisation activities with their next school. The LEA gives full information about how to apply for a secondary school place.
